Dr. Bill Kules is Principal Lecturer and Director of the iConsultancy Experiential Learning Program in the College of Information Studies (The iSchool) at the University of Maryland, College Park. Before joining academia in 2006, Dr. Kules spent 20 years in the software industry designing, implementing, and evaluating information systems for a variety of domains, including wireless telephony, customer service, banking, and multimedia websites.
Dr. Kules teaches in the areas of user experience/human-computer interaction, programming and information systems. His research focuses on advancing our educational practice as we educate information professionals to develop technology that serves human information needs, enabling more effective and equitable access to information. He seeks to develop curricula and teaching practices that support diversity, equity, and inclusion and counter racism and oppression within the information professions and our educational system. Dr. Kules earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Maryland in 2006.
