Shawn Janzen is a Ph.D. Candidate in the College of Information Studies. He is also a Graduate Fellow at the Applied Research Lab for Intelligence and Security (ARLIS). His research interests include how individuals and organizations create, choose to share, and adopt information that becomes part of the institutional knowledge, engagement, and administration. He focuses these interests toward disruptive and emerging technologies, sociotechnical cybersecurity, networks, public policy, and international affairs. Professionally, Shawn consults on organizational communications and management, and served on nonprofit boards. He served in the U.S. Peace Corps as an institution developer which inspired later work on multilateral governance. Shawn enjoys teaching and being a conduit for student success. He was twice awarded the Student’s Choice Teaching Award in 2018 and 2019. At the iSchool, he teaches INST 309, 314, 466, and 627. He holds a MPA from DePaul University and MPP from American University.
