IC25 Participant Registration opens January 20, 2025. 

The University of Maryland (UMD) Info Challenge is an annual week-long challenge held in late February where college students from four Maryland academic institutions solve real-world problems in the areas of data analytics, security, and design.

  • This is a free event, including admission, swag, food, and prizes.
  • Must be a college student at: University of Maryland College Park (UMCP), University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC), Montgomery College, or the United States Naval Academy (USNA)

  • No prior data experience required!
  • Must register individually to compete. Team registration will be offered only to those students who have individually registered.
  • Select a challenge project provided by a partnering organization.
  • Use your creativity and analytical skills to solve the challenge.
  • Attend lectures about how to use data analytics tools.
  • Compete for exciting prizes and bragging rights and engage in enriching educational experiences.

Be a Student Volunteer!

Are you a student who is interested in Info Challenge but not quite ready to participate? Be a Student Volunteer!

STUDENT VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION DEADLINE JANUARY 31, 2025!

As a Student Volunteer you will:

  • Provide you an opportunity to participate in the Info Challenge as a supporter by helping with a variety of tasks such as checking in participants, handing out information, serving food, setting up and cleaning up.
  • Assist the IC team before and throughout the challenge timeframe.
  • Network with information professionals by interacting with partners and sponsors during the challenge activities.

Student Volunteers must attend the IC24 Virtual Volunteer Info Session on Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 5-6pm.
