Academic Peer Mentor

AMPs are undergraduate academic peer mentors who provide experienced perspectives to students in a course they have previously completed successfully. work with instructors to achieve individualized learning outcomes for their mentorship. The benefits of participating as an AMP include:

  • Gain professional skills, mentorship, and leadership experience that develops self-efficacy and self-confidence
  • Explain fundamental concepts from scientific research on teaching, learning, and mentorship and apply those concepts to their role as an AMP and as a student
  • Create a mentorship portfolio that includes critical reflection on knowledge, skills, and experience developed

Examples of INST courses that AMPs have assisted with include:

  • INST201- Introduction to Information Science
  • INST326 – Object-Oriented Programming for Information Science
  • INST327 – Database Design and Modeling
  • INST362 – User-Centered Design

Undergraduate Research

Faculty at the INFO College are tackling real-world problems and developing solutions around the access and use of information. Students are encouraged to participate in hands-on research and learning in our centers and labs.

Undergraduate Ambassadors

Undergraduate Ambassadors are undergraduate students who assist the Undergraduate Student Services office by:

  • Participating in recruitment events
  • Assisting with peer-to-peer advising
  • Helping students in the Change of Major process
  • Working with InfoSci advisors in the Undergraduate Student Services Office

This is a paid position. Keep an eye on the emails from the INFO College for open application periods.
