Admissions – Master of Professional Studies in Data Journalism
Admission to the INFO College’s graduate programs is through the University of Maryland Graduate School, with supplemental program-specific application criteria and materials as described below. The University of Maryland’s Graduate School accepts applications through its ApplyYourself application system. Before completing the application, applicants should check the Graduate School’s Admissions Requirements. If you still have questions, please contact us for more information!
Completed applications are reviewed by an admissions committee in each graduate degree program. The recommendations of the admissions committee are submitted to the Dean of the Graduate School, who will make the final admission decision. Students seeking to complete graduate work at the University of Maryland for degree purposes must be formally admitted to the Graduate School by the Dean.
Following the UMCP Graduate School admissions requirements, applicants will be asked to submit a statement of purpose, transcripts, and proof of English proficiency (TOEFL/IELTS/PTE scores, as needed). The admissions committee will review all applications that meet the Graduate School’s eligibility for full-time enrollment. Best consideration will be for candidates whose TOEFL score (or equivalent) is 110 or above. Additionally, the program will require applicants to submit a CV/resume, three letters of recommendation, a supplementary application outlining their interest in Data Journalism, and three writing or work samples. Candidates are not expected to have prior work experience.
