Dean’s Student Advisory Council (DSAC)

Meet the INFO Dean’s Undergraduate Student Advisory Council (DSAC). Comprising undergraduate students from three different undergraduate majors offered by our INFO college across two different campus locations (College Park and Shady Grove), DSAC serves as the voice and collective vision of our undergraduate student body. The INFO DSAC members have different experiences and passions, and together, they work to make our academic community better.

The INFO DSAC team:

  • Serves as a bridge between undergraduate students and the college administration, fostering open communication and collaboration on strategic initiatives;
  • Collects feedback from its members and the broader student body, advocates for the interests and concerns of undergraduate students, providing valuable insights to the college’s decision-making processes;
  • Contributes ideas for innovative changes within the college, aiming to enhance the overall quality of education and student life.
  • Fosters a sense of community among undergraduate students within the college, organizing events and initiatives that enhance the overall student experience.
  • Empowers INFO undergraduate students by providing them with opportunities for collaboration and engagement in shaping the direction of their academic community.
  • Promotes inclusivity and diversity within the college, working towards creating an environment where all students feel heard, valued, and represented.

Asa Agyemang is a dedicated Information Science major, specializing in Data Analytics. Asa’s journey has embraced programming and UX/UI design, enriching her understanding of technology’s multidimensional nature. Asa is committed to reshaping perceptions of Information Science, showcasing its relevance in everyday life. Her passion for conceptual art creation fuels her growth-oriented approach, transforming mistakes into stepping stones toward innovation.
Sana Amjad

Sana Amjad

Sana Amjad is a senior at the University of Maryland, majoring in Information Science with a specialization in Data Science and double minoring in Information Risk Management and STEP (Science, Technology, Ethics, & Policy). She is also currently interning at the National Security Institute at George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School, where she is gaining valuable experience in cybersecurity and compliance. Sana is passionate about privacy, risk management, and governance, and she aspires to pursue a career in cybersecurity law and compliance.

Sean August

Sean August is a senior majoring in Information Science with a concentration in Cybersecurity. His experience from the Information Science curriculum, along with a cybersecurity internship at General Dynamics, has deepened his understanding of the cyber world. Sean also enjoys collaborating with like-minded, driven individuals to achieve shared goals.

Christian Bechmann

Christian is a senior majoring in Information Science with a minor in Business Analytics. He is pursuing a career in data science and analytics, with a strong passion for working with organizations that support communities across the United States. As a member of the Dean’s Student Advisory Council, Christian is dedicated to creating opportunities for his fellow Information Science students to grow both personally and professionally.

Siya Behl is an Information Science major with a strong passion for cybersecurity and programming. She aims to leverage her skills to address pressing disparities in technology. With a particular focus on the healthcare sector, Siya is dedicated to developing innovative solutions that drive positive change, ensuring that technology serves as a powerful catalyst for transformative outcomes. 
Diana Del Cid

Diana Del Cid

Diana Del Cid is an Information Science major specializing in Cybersecurity with a minor in Global Engineering Leadership. Her academic journey combines technical expertise with leadership skills, preparing her to navigate and secure the digital landscape while fostering collaboration in global contexts. Diana also works as a hardware support technician at UMD’s walk-in IT support, where she hones her technical and troubleshooting abilities. She is committed to leveraging her knowledge and experience to create secure, efficient, and globally-conscious technological solutions.
Harshitha Jeyakumar

Harshitha Jeyakumar

Harshitha Jeyakumar is a sophomore pursuing a degree in Information Science. She is passionate about exploring the intersections between technology and various industries, particularly the application of data science techniques in healthcare and business, as well as concepts in machine learning and information security. Harshitha is eager to learn and grow throughout her academic journey, collaborating with peers and continuously developing new skills.  
Dhruvi Kadhiwala

Dhruvi Kadhiwala

Dhruvi Kadhiwala is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Information Science with a minor in General Business. She is passionate about using her technical skills in SQL, Python, and R to solve real-world problems, as demonstrated through projects like the “Mortgage Master” and the “Montgomery County Crime Database Project.” Dhruvi has gained professional experience through internships at TekSystems, FlexLink, and Creative Associates International in Washington, DC, where she worked as a Data Analyst Intern. On campus, she serves as the Vice President of Finance and Operations for Alpha Sigma Kappa.  
Daniel-Kalashian

Daniel Kalashian

Dan Kalashian is a hard-working junior majoring in Social Data Science and a minor in statistics. Dan has experience working in the federal government industry, interning for both the United States Senate and a federal lobbying firm, and is currently a Student Trainee at the United States Environmental Protection Agency. Dan is dedicated to increasing his skills in statistical analysis and programming, and is interested in leading data-driven decision making in government, economic, and financial industries.
Kediel Lam

Kediel Lam

Kediel Lam, also known as Hawa, is a junior majoring in Information Science with a minor in Psychology. After graduation, Hawa plans to pursue a career in data analytics or cybersecurity. She has a strong curiosity about the field of artificial intelligence and a deep interest in all things technology.

Daniel Lee is an Information Science major with a minor in Information Risk Management, Ethics, and Privacy. He is passionate about cybersecurity, data analysis, and programming. Daniel seeks to use his skills to solve real-world problems, with a focus on developing innovative and meaningful solutions that make a lasting impact.

Passionate about increasing the representation of minority women in tech, Kelechi aims to transform the healthcare landscape through innovative UX solutions. Driven by a commitment to social good, Kelechi is dedicated to crafting user experiences that are both intuitive and inclusive. 
Saisidharth Seyyadri

Saisidharth Seyyadri

Saisidharth Seyyadri is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Information Science and is actively engaged in research and development projects within the FIRE program. He is passionate about exploring software engineering, artificial intelligence, and data science, leveraging his technical skills to drive innovation and create a meaningful impact in the digital landscape.

Swechchha Shrestha is a senior majoring in Information Science. She is passionate about technology and service. After graduating from the INFO College, Swechchha aspires to work with technology in the public service industry. Specializing in information systems and data analysis, she explores how emerging technologies like AI can enhance user experiences. With expertise in programming and UX/UI design, Inaya is passionate about demonstrating how Information Science can drive innovation in business management practices and improve everyday life.

Isabelle Thomas is pursuing a degree in Information Science with a passion for programming, data analysis, and project management. She aims to apply her technical and analytical skills in a professional setting to solve complex problems and make a meaningful impact.
Naomi Wilson

Naomi Wilson

Naomi Wilson is an Information Science major with a minor in Science, Technology, Ethics, and Policy. She brings professional experience supporting the Department of Defense and is focused on honing her skills to pursue a career as a Program Manager. On campus, Naomi has held several leadership roles, where she has worked to enhance organizational visibility and drive impactful initiatives.  
Grace Yu

Grace Yu

Grace Yu is an Information Science major, dual specializing in Data Science and Cybersecurity. She is actively involved on campus, including as a member of the professional business fraternity Delta Sigma Pi and as an Academic Peer Mentor for STAT100 courses. Grace is dedicated to fostering an inclusive community within the INFO school and hopes to encourage both academic and social growth among students.
