Computer and Information Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowships (CSGrad4US) – Micah Morgan

While the growth in undergraduate and graduate computer science (CS) enrollments during the last decade has increased, the number of PhDs in computing disciplines awarded to domestic students has remained relatively flat. The NSF Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) Graduate Fellowship Program (CSGrad4US) aims to increase the number and diversity of domestic students pursuing a PhD in a CISE field. The program offers a year of mentoring and three years of financial support to bachelor’s degree holders who are working in industry or other sectors and who return to academia and pursue research and innovation careers in the CISE fields. The Computing Research Association’s Committees on Education and Widening Participation developed and ran the mentoring program for the first two cohorts of CSGrad4US Fellowships. Through this cooperative agreement, CRA will assume the management of the CSGrad4US Fellowship program to include all phases of the recruitment and application process, subaward management, evaluation and tracking of participants, and dissemination of project outcomes and findings.
