Session 2: How COVID-19 Impacts Library Planning and Strategy

As we consider opening strategies during the pandemic, libraries need to consider what’s next. How can we plan for an uncertain future?

Moderator: Eliza McLeod, Head, World Bank Group Library

Donna Scheeder, President, Library Strategies International
Donna will share highlights of how IFLA is tracking and assisting libraries and library associations around the world as they meet this COVID challenge.

Alexander Cohen, MLIS Library Consultant at Aaron Cohen Associates
Alex will share a list of future considerations for library programming, including examples of strategies to provide safe library spaces and techniques to benchmark future services.

Jason Yasner, Deputy Director, National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled, Library of Congress
Jason will discuss how can the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS) plan for better online service delivery to its patrons given that its primary service model is based on a national network of cooperating libraries? Providing better product and self-service delivery will be essential in future crises.

After their presentations, there will be time for a short discussion.
