Session 1: COVID-19 Safety in Libraries

How can we figure out ways to balance our commitment to serving our communities while keeping our staff and patrons healthy?

Moderator: Sai Chinnaswamy, Section Chief, International Monetary Fund Library

Caro Cook, Chief, Facilities and Workplace Management Division, International Monetary Fund
Caro will discuss what visitors and employees expect when they visit the IMF Buildings. This session will cover what the Fund is doing to safeguard its visitors and employees during the pandemic and foreseeable future. You will have the chance to see many of the things that have been implemented already and are working but also the challenges and what may be some of the possible solutions.

Kendra Morgan, Senior Program Manager, OCLC WebJunction
Kendra will discuss the Reopening, Archives, Libraries and Museums (REALM) project, which will test materials commonly found in these institutions to determine how long the coronavirus can survive on surfaces. The REALM project aims to provide information to help library staff make decisions about handling of materials for staff and public.

After their presentations, there will be time for a short discussion.
