Kirtana Kalavagunta

Kirtana Kalavagunta is a UX/Product Designer and educator whose work focuses on incorporating interaction design principles into current industry practices. Holding a BS in Computer Science with a minor in Theatre from the University of Texas at Dallas, her leadership skills were also honed as she managed an Indian Classical Dance studio in Dallas, TX for about 8 years. Further advancing her expertise, Kirtana earned an MS in Human-Computer Interaction from the University of Maryland.

During her studies, she played a pivotal role in coordinating New Student Orientation and provided Academic Advising to undergraduates in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences. She also instructed UNIV100 alongside her education and was able to continue her passion for pedagogy here. Currently, as a UX Designer at Fidelity Investments, she continues to make significant strides in her field. Her return to the University of Maryland as an Adjunct Lecturer marks a full-circle moment in her career. Committed to bridging academia and industry, Kirtana ensures her students receive an education that aligns with current industry practices, empowering them to advance their careers with confidence and skill.
