The Bachelor of Science in Information Science (InfoSci) 4-year degree program at College Park teaches students skills in technical areas such as database design, information architecture, web/mobile development, data analytics, and cybersecurity alongside areas of the social sciences, leadership, and the humanities – addressing the growing and unique need for information professionals who understand complex social and organizational issues.
The InfoSci Shady Grove program teaches students skills in technical areas such as database design, information architecture, web/mobile development, data analytics, and cybersecurity alongside areas of the social sciences, leadership, and the humanities – addressing the growing and unique need for information professionals who understand complex social and organizational issues.
The SDSC program teaches students skills needed to create and work with information that captures aspects of human behavior. Social data science encompasses all elements of the data life cycle, including measure conceptualization, data gathering, management, manipulation, analysis, presentation, archiving, and re-use.

The InfoDesign program teaches students to use technology in the service of the greater good; to apply and expand their creativity; to develop a start-up mentality (in which they must try solutions and fail first in order to succeed), and to engage in rapid development and prototyping grounded by rapid evaluation and assessment. Students participate in hands-on studio and laboratory classes in user-centered design, technology development, problem-solving and cross-disciplinary communication.

The Master of Professional Studies in Game, Entertainment, and Media Analytics (GEM) degree trains students to apply analytics and data science methods in support of video games, streaming video, Over-The-Top (OTT) media, mobile games, eSports, traditional media, professional sports, and other current internet-based entertainment products.
The Master of Science in Human-Computer Interaction (HCIM) program prepares students to create innovative technologies that transform the way people connect to information. Our students learn to design, evaluate, and implement new information technologies and interfaces that are usable and appealing.
Through an interdisciplinary curriculum – with perspectives from information studies, computer science, engineering, design, education, psychology, and the social sciences – students are uniquely prepared to leverage information technology for positive social impact, develop interfaces for users of all ages and abilities, and understand modern design methodology.
The Master of Information Management (MIM) degree prepares students to become strategic leaders in the use of information and technology in any organization.
The MLIS program prepares students to support information institutions such as libraries, museums, and archives, innovate to meet the information needs of individuals and communities, and advocate for information and technology inclusivity, accessibility, and literacy.
