The College of Information at the University of Maryland, College Park (INFO), invites applications for full-time, professional track (PTK) lecturers who are committed to excellence in teaching, innovation in pedagogy, and supporting a diverse, multidisciplinary student community. We seek candidates whose expertise strengthens our undergraduate and graduate programs and contributes to the College’s mission of educating the next generation of information, technology, and design leaders.

We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in any of the following:

Computer networking fundamentals, to include such topics as (among others):

  • Cloud infrastructure, virtualization, and distributed systems
  • Physical computing and embedded systems
  • Internet of Things (IoT) architecture, security, deployment, and analytics
  • Hands-on prototyping, fabrication, and systems integration
  • Applied lab-based instruction bridging hardware, software, and connected devices
  • Information design, to include such topics as (among others):
  • Visual and graphic design principles
  • Data visualization and data-driven communication
  • Interaction design, interface design, and novel HCI approaches
  • Information organization and architecture
  • Product design and iterative prototyping
  • User experience (UX) research and design strategy
  • Data storytelling, multimedia storytelling, and narrative-driven design
  • Studio-based, experiential, or portfolio-centered teaching approaches
  • Cybersecurity, to include such topics as (among others):
  • Network and systems security
  • Identity, trust, and access management
  • Security policy, governance, and regulatory frameworks
  • Human-computer interaction and usable security
  • Ethical, social, and societal implications of cybersecurity
  • Computing, to include such topics as (among others):
  • Artificial Intelligence applications
  • Introductory programming and computational thinking
  • Object-oriented programming and software engineering
  • Database design, data modeling, and data-centric application development
  • Client-side web development and front-end frameworks
  • Full stack development, API design, and cloud-integrated applications
  • Experiential learning, to include such topics as (among others):
  • Delivering existing hands-on, practice-based courses, and designing new courses in this area, as needed
  • Supervising internships, capstones, and client-based projects
  • Creating inclusive learning environments and applying evidence-based pedagogy
  • Developing interdisciplinary, cross-cutting learning experiences for INFO students
