Kem is working in Human-Computer Interaction and Natural Language Processing. She is passionate about bettering interactions between teachers and AI, fusing machine learning with qualitative grounded theory approaches in data exploration, and creating new interaction paradigms for teachers to evaluate education NLP models. Kem also works with Cornell Tech’s Break Through Tech AI Initiative and helped establish UMD as an Instructional Hub for the program. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.S. in Computer Science and a B.A. in Econometrics from Providence College.
