Abstract: Lieutenant Colonel (Dr.) Rebecca Williams has served in the U.S. Army for 22 years and is currently a Cybersecurity and Data Analyst. Her scholarly interests center on Haiitans’ information-seeking and financial literacy. Born to Haitian immigrants, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Communications from the University of Florida, a Master of Arts in Leadership Studies from the University of Texas at El Paso, and a Doctorate of Professional Studies in Information from Syracuse University. Dr. Williams has received numerous military and academic awards, including the ‘Amy L. Everett Award’ for Ethics in Information Studies Research, the ‘Doctor of Professional Studies Award’ for Excellence in Research, and the 2024 STEM Hero and Luminary Award. Her talk focuses on her dissertation research entitled, “Sociocultural behaviors that affect how Haitian Americans seek financial information.”
