i3r Alliance Bibliotactics Author Talk

Community Events Research Talks/Events

Date/Time: Monday, May 4, 2026 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

This semester, we’re reading Dr. Cindy Anh Nguyen’s Bibliotactics, which is available with a 30% discount and is also openly accessible. Dr. Nguyen’s Bibliotactics critically examines the Hanoi and Saigon state libraries of colonial and post-colonial Vietnam to uncover how libraries emerged to function as both instruments of colonial dominance and an experimental space of public critique that reimagined the meaning and role of libraries among Vietnamese readers.

Dr. Cindy Anh Nguyen is an assistant professor at UCLA’s Department of Information Studies and Digital Humanities program. Her work focuses on the historical and socio-technical production of knowledge in Southeast Asia through libraries, encyclopedia, visual media, and language through feminist, decolonial, and critical approaches.

Come join our author talk with Dr. Nguyen on May 4th at 4PM!
