Establishing an Archival/Records Management Partnership to Assist the National Park Service in Managing its Historically Valuable Records in the Washington Office

Curated archival collections are primary data sources that provide information for long-term research needs. Few students in areas of cultural resource stewardship are trained in the management of archival collections. This project is a partnership of the University of Maryland iSchool and the NPS, which offers unique career exploration opportunities. NPS will mentor students and help them acquire valuable practical experience and build relationships with professionals and organizations in the field of archival management, preservation and curation of museum archives.
