David Seymour (CHIM) (1911-1956) was a world famous photojournalist and co-founder of Magnum Photos in 1947.

His photographs of the Spanish Civil War, post-World War II orphans for UNESCO, founding of Israel, Hollywood celebs, etc. are widely known. Learn more at: www.davidseymour.com

Professor Ben Shneiderman is a Distinguished University Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Maryland

He will describe CHIM’s family background from Warsaw and how he moved to Paris in the 1930s, then trace his iconic photos Vll his tragic death while covering the Suez Crisis for Newsweek in 1956.

Helena Zinkham, who heads up the Library of Congress Prints & Photographs Division, will also speak about the CHIM Collection and website.

There will be a reception following the presentaton. The CHIM Exhibit in the Merrill College’s Gaylord Library will be open for viewing.
