New iSchool Website to Launch in Late August

Get ready for some big changes on the iSchool’s website! In late August, just in time for the beginning of a new academic year, the iSchool will unveil its new and improved website. The new site will feature both cosmetic and technical upgrades to improve both user experience and functionality.

The most obvious change will be a dramatic re-design of the site’s look and feel. Changes to the homepage include improved navigation and greater emphasis on the iSchool’s presence on social media, as well as increased ability to showcase iSchool news, accomplishments and events.

Created in Drupal 7, the new site will be compatible with current standards of HTML 5 and CSS 3. The technical upgrades associated with Drupal 7 will offer a variety of usability improvements. The site’s display will be responsive based on screen size, making it mobile friendly. In addition, the site will offer increased accessibility features for users with disabilities and will be more search engine-friendly.

The new ischool.umd.edu is the culmination of several months of effort from many members of the iSchool community led by iSchool web developer and webmaster Rob Goodwin.
