MLS Alumna Deborah Taylor Wins 2015 Coretta Scott King-Virginia Hamilton Award for Lifetime Achievement

Alumna Deborah Taylor (MLS, '74) was named the 2015 Coretta Scott King-Virginia Hamilton Practitioner Award for Lifetime Achievement from the American Library Association (ALA). This award is presented on a rotating basis between a practitioner for substantial contributions through active engagement with youth using award winning African American literature for children and/or young adults, via implementation of reading and reading related activities/programs and an African American author, illustrator or author/illustrator for a body of his or her published books for children and/or young adults, and who has made a significant and lasting literary contribution. Taylor, coordinator for School and Student Services at the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore, also teaches as an adjunct instructor in the MLS program.
