Americana 2014 to Be Held Feb. 24

Join the iSchool, the iSchool Alumni Chapter and Student Archivists at Maryland (SAM) for Americana 2014: Archiving Culture in Underrepresented Communities on Monday, February 24 from 6-8:30 pm in Room 6137 (Special Events Room) of McKeldin Library at the University of Maryland campus in College Park, MD.

Americana is the annual symposium organized and hosted by SAM to bring archives professionals back to campus to speak to UMD iSchool students, alumni, and faculty about their experiences in the field. This year's presentation will feature the following speakers:

Michael Pahn, interim head archivist at the National Museum of the American Indian’s Archive Center

Jennifer Morris, archivist at the Anacostia Community Museum

In addition, Dr. Joni Jones, Executive Director of the Maryland Commission on African American History and Culture, will be honored as the Distinguished Archival Alumni of the Year.
