Info Challenge Competition – Provide Data Set
Provide a dataset for student teams to analyze, gain fresh perspectives on your organization’s biggest data challenges
The University of Maryland (UMD) Info Challenge is an annual, week-long event where college students from across the state of Maryland solve real-world challenges based on datasets provided by companies and organizations from across the U.S.
With hundreds of student participants each year, we need your help! Any type of complete datasets, from any discipline, are welcome.
From client demographics to website traffic records, students will analyze the data, determine key findings, and help solve real problems or unveil new information. In the past, students developed valuable solutions in the areas of data analytics, data visualization, communications, security, information and communications technology (ICT) design, and website design for organizations such as Amazon Web Services, the National Cancer Institute, Booz Allen, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Organizations that provide datasets are also acknowledged as event sponsors.
⇒ There is no limit on the number of datasets that sponsors can provide
⇒ Provide software codes or API’s to extract data instead
⇒ Submit a short statement about why you would like to have this dataset researched, or include a problem statement to guide the participants’ exploration
⇒ All datasets must be complete and cleaned so the student participants do not have to take the time to complete these actions
This event is hosted annually by UMD in late February. The Dataset Submission Form for 2023 will be posted closer to the event.
