Dr. Kenneth Heger is a lecturer at the University of Maryland College of Information Studies (UMD iSchool) and a research associate at the college's Digital Curation Innovation Center (DCIC). Dr. Heger's research and teaching cetners on digital curation, particularly around cultural collections. He is principal investor of the Global Journeys, Local Communities Project, which identifies and extracts data from cultural collections to build dynamic datasets documenting the movement of people for the years between the American Civil War and World War I. Dr. Heger is also the Director of the Archives & Digital Curation Specialization within the UMD iSchool's Master of Library and Information Science program.
