The basic procedures in the registration process are:

See your advisor for approval of courses as soon as possible. Have approval for backup courses in case your first choices are full. Submit the study plan to your advisor electronically via MEGS. Your registration must be approved by your advisor  to be eligible to register for courses. You do not need advisor approval to register for the required core courses.

Obtain instructor approval if required. You must submit the instructor's approval, if applicable, to Laura Madison at lmadison@umd.edu.

While we cannot grant official permission for students to register for courses in other departments, those classes must be listed in your study plan and approved by your advisor.

"If you wish to register for Consortium courses or courses at other UM System schools, you will need to submit a petition, a description of the course, and if available, the syllabus of the desired course to the Student Services Office, which will then take it to the Academic Committee for approval consideration."

The more specific requirements and procedures of the College supersede those of the University.
