- Selection of Recipient:
- Based on applicant’s interests, accomplishments, and/or contributions in the field of library and information services or information management, financial need as expressed in the application form, transcript, and essay.
- Eligibility of Applicant:
- Enrolled in either the MIM or MLS degree program..
- Have GPA of 3.5 or higher in the MIM or MLS program.
- Completed at least nine credits by May 2007 and have at least nine credits remaining in the MIM or MLS program after August 2007.
- Must enroll in at least nine credits during the 2007-2008 academic year
- Application Procedure:
- An interested student must submit a completed application form (hyperlink to revised application form to be added later) and essay to Information Studies Alumni Chapter c/o Student Services Office, 4110 Hornbake Bldg., UM, College Park, MD 20742-4345 or by email at clisspecialprojects@umd.edu.
- The essay should be up to 500 words in length, typed on a separate sheet of paper. Applicant should discuss specific goals in the profession and plans for achieving those goals, and the difference one can make to the profession.
- Application for the scholarship will be considered authorization by the applicant for the Student Services Office to provide an unofficial transcript to the Alumni Chapter for confirmation of academic record at the College.
- An interested student must submit a completed application form (hyperlink to revised application form to be added later) and essay to Information Studies Alumni Chapter c/o Student Services Office, 4110 Hornbake Bldg., UM, College Park, MD 20742-4345 or by email at clisspecialprojects@umd.edu.
- Application Deadline:
- Completed application packets must be received by 5:00 p.m. on November 15, 2007.
- Presentation of Scholarships:
- The scholarship winners will be notified prior to December 1, 2007 and recognized during the College Commencement ceremony in December 2007.
These scholarships are the Silver Anniversary Scholarship, created in 1990, and the Founders Scholarship, created in 1996. The endowed scholarships are supported through contributions to the Alumni Scholarship Fund.
