Welcome to the Home Page for one of the best Alumni Chapters on the UM Campus! If you are an Alumnus of College of Information Studies, you are automatically a part of the Alumni Chapter. So, find out more about us and become active by attending our monthly board meetings.
Who Are We?
The College of Information Studies Alumni Chapter became a formal part of the University of Maryland Alumni Association, Inc. in June 1982, with the adoption of its constitution and bylaws. The Alumni Chapter consists of anyone who holds a degree from College of Information Studies, former students who were regularly enrolled in the College but are not holders of a College of Information Studies degree, those who subscribe to the objectives of the Chapter and who wish to participate in the activities of the Chapter, officers, and Honorary members who have rendered outstanding service to the College.
What Is Our Purpose?
The purpose of the iSchool Alumni Chapter is to address the continuing education needs of alumni, maintain channels of communication among the alumni, faculty and students of the College, and recognize outstanding alumni, faculty and students.
How Do We Accomplish This?
The Chapter holds monthly board meetings, open to all alumni. We sponsor a minimum of two continuing education programs during the year: an all-day program in the fall and an evening program in the spring. The chapter awards two scholarships each year to current iSchool students. The chapter also sponsors a family picnic in the summer to welcome new iSchool graduates.
