What is unique about Shady Grove?

The Universities at Shady Grove offer more than 60 undergraduate and graduate programs from nine different members of the University System of Maryland in one location in Montgomery County. The campus is located along the Interstate 270 corridor in Rockville, Maryland. It is easily accessible to I-270, the Intercounty Connector, and the Capital Beltway, making it a convenient choice for students who live and work in Northern Virginia, Frederick, and other areas throughout the Washington, DC, metropolitan area.

The Universities at Shady Grove offer state-of-the-art facilities with the latest in academic technology. Students at Shady Grove also have access to a library, dining services, university shuttles to and from College Park, and free parking. Courses are offered in the evenings to accommodate the schedules of working adults.

What opportunities are there at Shady Grove?

Shady Grove’s location in the I-270 corridor gives students access to internship, field study, and employment opportunities offered by one of Maryland’s fastest-growing areas. With employers such as the National Institutes of Standards and Technology, Lockheed Martin Information Systems, and Human Genome Sciences close by, the opportunities for well-trained information professionals are endless.

Shady Grove students also have additional flexibility in beginning their studies with the iSchool. In general, Shady Grove applications are accepted throughout the year, allowing students to begin the MLS or MIM degree programs at the beginning of the spring and summer semesters as well as in the fall. For Spring and Summer 2013 only, the iSchool will not be admitting new students to the MLS program.
