Leslie Burger (MLS, 1974), director of the Princeton (NJ) Public Library, has been elected President of the American Library Association (ALA) for the term 2006-2007. In late April this win was announced over the rival candidate, Christine Lind Hage, director of the Clinton-Macomb Public Library in Clinton Township, Michigan.

Before joining the Princeton Public Library, Burger worked at the New Jersey State Library and the Connecticut State Library in the areas of planning and library development. She is the owner of Library Development Solutions, which she founded in 1991. In her consulting practice, Burger has worked with more than 100 libraries of all sizes and types on planning, space needs assessments, evaluation, and program implementation.
