Academic Support Technician

Salary: $8:50 per hour
Hours: Monday through Thursday 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Position Available: Fall semester 2008
This is an hourly, part-time, student-wage position with scheduled evening hours. The coordinator is responsible for maintaining the student computer lab, assisting with classroom technology setups in the College of Information Studies, providing general IT support services for faculty and students during evening hours, completing assigned tasks associated with hardware and software in the College, and assisting in general College technology department tasks. The lab coordinator will report to the Technology Specialist in the iSchool Office of Technology.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the security, maintenance, and environmental condition of the iSchool Student Lab including the equipment, software, and furnishings.
- Supports students’ use of software and hardware installed in the lab.
- Delivers portable computing and projecting equipment to evening classes within Hornbake, and retrieves and secures the equipment at the end of the evening.
- Serves as primary technical assistant to iSchool faculty and students during scheduled evening hours.
- Responsible for closing and securing the lab and other spaces at the end of the shift.

Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of hardware and software installation and maintenance.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, simple web development, and other software packages.
- Aptitude for learning additional college-specific software applications such as NVIVO, survey tools, etc.
- Must possess excellent oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent customer service attitude.
- Must be able reliable and conscientious.
- Must be willing and able to work established evening hours Monday through Thursday, 4:00 – 9:00 p.m.
